Festival of Sail coming back to the Oregon coast

    ……………………………………………………………………………………….

At least five historic tall ships will sail to the Oregon coast this June, staging battles and offering tours as they anchor themselves in Coos Bay – sharing the water with a giant rubber duck.

The ships and duck are all a part of theĀ Festival of Sail, a worldwide traveling event that will return to Coos Bay from June 1 to 4, stopping in the old port town before heading up the coast to Tacoma.

“When [the ships] are sailing in and they’re blasting their cannons off it’s a pretty awe-inspiring spectacle,” festival producer Craig Samborski said. And when the big duck comes out, “you get another segment of the community comes to the event.”
