  • Ocean Day 2019 Wildlife Sail | Saturday, June 8th

Come aboard for our first ever Ocean Day Sail on SF Bay! Join us on deck to experience feeding time on SF Bay.
Be prepared for possible sightings of a variety of Sea Birds, Seals, Harbor Porpoise and Humpback Whales!
Humpback whales in the San Francisco Bay used to be a rare sighting, but since 2017 there has been a significant increase in their population that has led to regular sightings around the Golden Gate Bridge! These sightings have peaked during May and June, coinciding with their northbound migration and feeding patterns. Humpbacks are most commonly seen around high tide, which is the best opportunity for them to feed on the multitude of anchovies and other small fish that flood under the Golden Gate Bridge. These sightings are not guaranteed, but we are always hopeful!
This sail is timed with these ideal conditions in mind, taking you from Sausalito to the Golden Gate Bridge at high tide, and hoping for the best! In any case, you’ll see the Bay’s iconic sights from the deck of an elegant, traditionally-rigged sailboat. Landmarks we’ll often see include the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Marin Headlands, Angel Island, Palace of Fine Arts, Fort Mason, Fisherman’s Wharf, Coit Tower, and the Bay Bridge, all from the special vantage of the water.
